“To Lose a friend”
What is the cost of losing one
Whose friendship’s true and pure?
The one who’s there no matter what
To make your footsteps sure.
The one who says “Just lean on me”,
When burdens weigh you down.
All fun and games with others cease
When they see you around.
A friend is like a Siamese twin
For they’re affected too,
Whenever sunlight fills your soul
It rips your heart in two
For then your error comes to light
And what you took them through.
Apologies and other pleas
Have come a little late.
And reasoned “all for self”
So they moved on without a fight
And befriended someone else.
Although they’ll always think of you
The thought of being hurt again
Has made them paranoid.
So if you have a dear old friend
Assure them at all costs
That what is shared is to the end
To avoid a painful loss
Sometimes a decade passes by
And searching bears no fruit
To find a friend that’s genuine
So cherish whom God gave to you.
“Why someone would destroy a good friendship is like asking why a person commits suicide.
For both of them loses their life”.

Or when it’s sad and blue.
There’s never doubt inside their mind
About your loyality
That’s why they sometimes err for you
And blame is not decreed.
Through thick and thin or life and death
They’re stationed by your side
You’ll always feel their presence there
For friends refuse to hide.
But sometimes there will be a case
Where balance starts to shift.
The bond becomes a fragile thread
And vows are left adrift.
And even though they beg and plead
For you to stop and think,
About the bond that lies at stake
You teeter on the brink
Of losing one whose value is
Beyond a dollar’s reach.
And finding one that ‘s tried and true
Is all too hard a feat.
For many wear the label proud
But fail to execute
The duties of a loyal friend
With manifested proof.
So when you find a special one
You must invest your heart
For none deserves to have a one
Who fail to do their part.
It’s not a strain to do your role
And reap the blessed reward.
A thing that God shall smile upon
That a poor man can afford
But when a friend is somehow lost
For they have watched in painful gloom
The bond disintegrate.
The callous way you brushed them off
As one who brought them joy
