My name is Donald L. Aldrich; I've been here on Texas death row
since 10. August 1994. I'm hoping now to raise some money for a legal
defence as I've had court appointed attorneys from my trail until now.
All of which have only done the bare minimum they have had to do on
all they have done. At trail my lawyer's main and favorite statement
was, "we have no questions at this time your honor". They put on no
defence, and during the sentencing part of my trail did not put on
evidence which would have gotten me a life sentence instead of a death
sentence, mitigating evidence its called. As well as evidence during the
guilt or innocence part of the trail that could have gotten me found not
guilty of capital murder, but guilty of a lesser offence.
See I'm not totally innocent, I was part of a crime that ended in the
death of a young man, but did not play a part in his death as the District
Attorney said. Even my partner who took the life, in his confession
cleared me of the murder, but this was kept from my j ury, as well as
other things to prove my innocence in his death. 3 juriors talking to a
couple law students told them when asked they had no choice but to find
me guilty and sentence me to death as the defence put on no defence,
all they had to go on was what the District Attorney said and follow his
lead on it all. My co-counsel from my trail did my direct appeal, now
this was a lawyer from my trail, on my direct appeal he filed 37 points of
error, of those 37, 29 points of error were not properly presented for
review. A small wonder my direct appeal was denied. My current
lawyer, Robin Norris, who's done my last 2 appeals, said while trying to
help get or save the life of Napoleon Baezley that when he did his
appeal in 1996/1997 he had too many appeals to do, to do a proper job
on it. In effect doing an ineffective job on his appeal, he did my state
habeas at the same time, so could not do a proper job on mine then
either. On a current appeal in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals my
lawyer since 1996 put my TDCJ-ID No. as 999154, which is not my
number, mine is 999113.
A friends of mine got a private investigator to look into my case, with
the help of a lawyer they found out my lawyer has not filed things he
should have by now on all of it. Now this private investigator, Tina
Church, is looking into things none of my lawyers have they should
have, to try and save my life before its too late.
I hope with help of caring people to raise money for a legal defence
fund to cover their costs in all they do to help me in my fight to save my
